Successful Apprenticeship Open Evening at Weber Maschinenbau

At the Apprenticeship Open Evening, pupils receive information from other young people since it is the apprentices from Weber Maschinenbau themselves who talk about their apprenticeships. It was only a couple of years before that the apprentices were in the same position as the pupils and so they can easily relate and speak about the pupils' interests, concerns and ideas about beginning their careers. The currently more than 50 dual students and apprentices thus actively participate in organizing the Apprenticeship Open Evening.

This year too, the Apprenticeship Open Evening proved to be very popular among pupils from the region. Approximately 250 young people visited the world leader in high-performance slicing machines to learn about different occupations and career opportunities.

On offer was everything from slicing tours to a presentation about the current apprentice project – the Weber Currywurst Slicer C16. The attractive machine makes clear what an apprenticeship is like at the high-tech medium-sized company. In addition to the purely technical apprenticeships more and more project management is being included via various occupations. Electronics technicians, warehouse logistics technicians, industrial mechanics, design mechanics, technical product designers, cutting machine operators and industrial sales representatives were involved in the development and realization of the C16.

In 2018, Weber Maschinenbau will again accept altogether 18 young people as apprentices and dual students in eight occupations and five dual studies courses. In the coming years, they will then be able to take part in the Apprenticeship Open Evening and work on exciting apprentice project.
