Weber Power Control wins Red Dot Design Award

The new "Weber Power Control" operating interface won the 2013 Red Dot Award for Communication Design. Over several days of meetings, the jury evaluated each of the roughly 6,800 submissions from 43 countries, honouring only the best with the quality mark. The operating interface for Weber slicer lines, developed with HMI Project GbR, Karlstadt, impressed the jury with outstanding design and particularly simple operation of high-performance cutting lines. Mathias Dülfer, Managing Director of Weber Maschinenbau responded as follows: "We are proud to have received this award. It confirms that we have created an exceptionally efficient operating interface for our systems in Weber Power Control. It is tailored perfectly for the operator's requirements and sets a new standard in the industry." Weber Power Control Weber Power Control permits intuitive operation and monitoring of the complex Weber cutting and infeed lines. The design used as little language as possible, relying instead on easy-to-understand graphical symbols. It is operated using a multitouch screen with swipe and gesture control. Users are familiar with these methods from their smartphones or tablet PCs. The latest web technologies were used to implement the interface. Weber Power Control informs users about all relevant aspects of the system components connected. The most important machine parameters such as portion performance, good yield, giveaway and portion weights are shown clearly. In addition to this, the operating interface also offers operators a guided troubleshooting function. Its intelligent operating controls reduce the number of parameters, making it easier to operate the machines. The quick operating concept is another special feature, as there are no hierarchical menus, all important settings can be reached with a single touch. Weber Power Control can also be customised individually. The system was presented for the first time at the IFFA trade fair in Frankfurt, and will be delivered for the first time next year with the new Weber high-performance cutter 906. For 2014, we also plan to transfer Weber Power Control to all Weber slicers and an upgrade version for all systems already in use.
